Transmission Suite - Same Glue (i.sleptt.in Remix)
Scottish indie-electronic outfit Transmission Suite return to Same Glue, one of their strongest recent singles, with a new reworking by fellow Scottish artist and producer i.sleptt.in, due for release on 11 September 2026.
Based in Stirling, Transmission Suite have gradually developed a sound that sits somewhere between the electronic pulse of the 1980s, the loose rhythmic character of early 1990s baggy and indie-dance, and the more atmospheric textures of shoegaze and dream pop. Rather than treating those influences as straightforward nostalgia, the four-piece have increasingly folded them into a contemporary electronic framework built around drum machines, synthesizers, bass and chiming guitars. Their debut album Resonate, released in January 2025, established that identity particularly clearly.
Released originally on 10 July 2026, Same Glue continued that evolution. Recorded at Green Door Studios in Glasgow, the track brought together textured synthesizers, persistent electronic rhythms and melodic guitar work, while retaining the combination of melancholy and momentum that has become central to Transmission Suite's music. Its lyrical idea revolves around shared pressure and uncertainty, encapsulated in the suggestion that, despite apparent differences, everyone is struggling through versions of the same difficult reality.
The original also gave the band further radio momentum, reaching #33 on the Amazing Radio UK Chart, but this new version is more interesting than a simple attempt to extend the lifespan of a successful single. By handing the track to i.sleptt.in, Transmission Suite are effectively allowing Same Glue to move into another corner of contemporary British electronic music.
i.sleptt.in's own material has explored UK garage, future garage, house and breakbeat, frequently combining restless rhythms with softer, more emotional electronic textures. Tracks such as Until The Afterglow lean into classic UK garage swing and warm house-influenced chords, while Where The People At pushes toward breakbeat, heavy low-end and a distinctly modern UK electronic sound. That makes the collaboration feel surprisingly natural: Transmission Suite already operate at the point where indie music and club culture overlap, while i.sleptt.in approaches similar emotional territory from the opposite direction, beginning with electronic and dance music rather than guitars.
It is also an interesting way of looking at Same Glue itself. The song was never entirely tied to the conventions of guitar-based indie music. Beneath its melodic surface sits a strong rhythmic foundation, and its combination of repetition, atmosphere and emotional tension makes it particularly suited to reinterpretation. A remix therefore has the potential to expose elements that were already embedded in the original rather than simply placing an electronic beat underneath it.
There is a broader connection here too. Transmission Suite's music has always drawn from periods when the dividing line between indie and dance music became particularly porous: New Order's transition between post-punk and electronic music, the psychedelic dance rhythms of the late-'80s and early-'90s Manchester scene, and the collision between guitars, electronics and club culture that followed. Their own description of the project spans 80s electronica, synthwave and 90s influences, while Same Glue itself pushes that lineage forward rather than attempting to recreate it.
Bringing i.sleptt.in into the picture extends that idea into a much more contemporary vocabulary. UK garage, future garage and modern breakbeat occupy a different musical landscape from the influences normally associated with Transmission Suite, yet they share an emphasis on atmosphere, repetition, movement and emotional release. The remix consequently feels less like an isolated alternative version and more like a bridge between two generations of British electronic culture.
Following the release of Resonate and the arrival of the original Same Glue earlier this summer, the remix also suggests that Transmission Suite are increasingly willing to let their music escape the boundaries of conventional indie-electronic songwriting. That openness could prove particularly fruitful for a band whose strongest characteristic has always been the way guitars and electronic textures coexist rather than compete for space.
