Corasandel - FYN

Corasandel Expand the Horizon on FYN

With FYN, released May 1, 2026, Corasandel return with a statement that feels both immediate and expansive. A year after The Red Hill EP, the Lincolnshire collective step further into their evolving sound, blending spiralling shoegaze textures with a stronger electronic pulse, creating something that feels alive, physical and deeply immersive.

At its core, FYN is movement. Not just musically, but almost instinctively. The track builds from Mark Merrifield’s opening guitar figure, a spark that quickly ignites into a full-band surge. Chris Lody’s breakbeat becomes the heartbeat, steady but propulsive, while Holly Hall’s bass anchors the track with a presence that feels both grounded and celestial. Around this core, Jimmy Osborne’s processed guitars spiral outward, layered and textured, while Esme Dodsworth’s effected vocals hover above everything, distant yet guiding, like a signal cutting through a dense atmosphere.

What makes FYN resonate is how naturally these elements lock together. The band’s process, rooted in live, in-room creation, gives the track an organic energy that cannot be replicated through isolated production. There is a sense that the music is being discovered as much as it is being written. The result feels immediate, almost channeled, as if the song arrived fully formed through the interplay between the musicians.

Sonically, the track sits at an intersection where shoegaze meets rhythm-driven electronica. There are echoes of the dancefloor energy associated with Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses, alongside the psychedelic edge of Primal Scream. Yet Corasandel do not simply reference these influences. They reshape them into something fluid and contemporary, where repetition becomes hypnosis and texture becomes momentum.

Lyrically, FYN reaches across time. It reflects on generational continuity, memory and the uncertainty of the present moment. There is a quiet tension between past, present and future, with lines that suggest both disillusionment and hope. The idea of calling on ancestors as a source of guidance adds a deeper layer, giving the track a sense of spiritual weight beneath its physical energy.

What began as a studio jam quickly evolved into something more defined through live performance. As the band tested the track in front of audiences, its identity shifted. The crowd became part of the process, shaping its direction and pulling the band further toward its dance-driven core. This feedback loop between stage and studio is embedded in the final version, giving the track a communal energy that feels shared rather than constructed.

Alongside FYN, the companion piece Lost in the Wolds extends the experience into more abstract territory. Built from the same source material but reworked through looping, delay and fragmentation inspired by cut-up techniques, it transforms the original into something more dub-like and exploratory. The two tracks exist as reflections of each other, sharing the same DNA while occupying different emotional and sonic spaces.

What defines Corasandel most is their approach to creation. Formed through chance encounters at parties, record stores and festivals, the band have built their sound on presence and collaboration. Weekly sessions in their own studio allow ideas to evolve collectively, each member contributing their own voice to a shared language. This dynamic gives their music a depth that feels lived rather than assembled.

With FYN, Corasandel demonstrate that shoegaze remains a space for exploration rather than repetition. By weaving together dance rhythms, layered guitars and immersive atmospheres, they push the genre into new territory without losing its emotional core.

A track that pulls you in, holds you there, and lets time dissolve around you, until the night slips away and the first light quietly takes over.
