Daughter unveils "Middle Farm Session," an intimate and heartfelt performance
To celebrate the first anniversary of their latest album Stereo Mind Game, British indie-folk band Daughter offers their fans an exceptional gift: Middle Farm Session, a filmed live performance featuring seven tracks. This project sees Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli, and Remi Aguilella return to the intimacy of Middle Farm Studios, nestled near Dartmoor National Park in England. It’s in this serene setting, where much of Stereo Mind Game was recorded, that the trio breathes new life into these songs, performing them live for the very first time.
Among the tracks in this session are the standout singles Be On Your Way, Party, and To Rage. With a stripped-back staging and meticulously crafted arrangements, the performance captures the sensitivity and depth that have become Daughter’s signature sound. The session also highlights the unique sonic textures of Stereo Mind Game, blending delicate orchestrations with poignant harmonies.
Released in April 2023, Stereo Mind Game marked a turning point in the band’s career as their first studio album in seven years. Critically acclaimed, it was named Album of the Month by the renowned Rough Trade Shop. The album’s standout tracks include Swim Back, enriched by a collaboration with the London-based string ensemble 12 Ensemble, and To Rage, whose warm tones are beautifully complemented by a brass quartet. To support the album’s release, Daughter played only one intimate live show at Rough Trade’s flagship store in East London.
