The band Dead Leaf Echo from Brooklyn, which fuses shoegaze and nouveau wave elements, has unveiled the specifics of their upcoming third album titled ‘The Mercy of Women‘.
Their recording journey was prolonged over several years due to the challenges posed by the pandemic. This album, "Mercy", finds the band venturing into more impactful and relatable sonic territories.
The group's lead, LG Galleon, began crafting these tracks in 2017, right after launching their previous album, Beyond.Desire. Following their West Coast tour, they returned to New York with the intent to produce this album. They originally aimed for a 2020 release in tandem with a European tour, but unforeseen pandemic complications shifted their timeline. This change gave them an opportunity to dive deeper into their music's intricacies over an extended period.
The album was captured in various recording sessions, both at home and in their rehearsal space. The concluding sessions took place in Studio G, guided by experienced sound engineer Jeff Berner. It has 10 songs, mixed by James Aparacio and mastered by Joe Lambert.
This collection of songs is a tribute to the feminine strength and influence, ranging from the energetic first track “BOO” to the soulful "Forgivination." Even after ten years from their debut, Dead Leaf Echo is evolving their unique style, producing tracks with a hint of shoegaze that are likely to gain traction on college radio stations, including recent releases like “Call” and “Another Breath”.
