With Overflow, Deathbloom deliver a four-track release that feels deliberately restrained yet emotionally expansive. Hailing from Manchester, the band tap into the city’s long tradition of introspective, atmosphere-driven music, but channel it through a modern post-rock lens where space, patience, and tension do most of the talking.
Overflow unfolds slowly, allowing ideas to breathe and evolve rather than rushing toward resolution. Guitars rise and recede in waves, sometimes shimmering, sometimes roughened at the edges, while rhythm sections anchor the music with a quiet sense of forward motion. There’s an understated power here: moments build almost imperceptibly before cresting, then dissolve back into calm, leaving a lingering emotional afterimage.
The EP’s strength lies in its balance between clarity and blur. Indie-leaning melodies surface just long enough to ground the listener before being submerged again in expansive post-rock textures. In just four tracks, Deathbloom manage to sketch a wide emotional landscape.
