Diffident Daffodils Release New Album Amid December's Challenges
Los Angeles, CA – Diffident Daffodils, the shoegaze/indie-pop quartet from Los Angeles, have defied conventional wisdom with the release of their latest album on December 6, 2024. Titled It’s Stupid to Put Out an Album in December, the band candidly acknowledges the risks of launching during a month often overshadowed by year-end best-of lists and holiday commotion. Yet, in their own words:
"We worked tirelessly on this for almost a year and put our whole heart into it. We hope we made you proud."
The album, crafted by core members Holland, Lopez, Wilson, and Roberts, marks a milestone in the band’s evolution. A collaborative effort, it was produced by James Ross, Kingbird, and Heretic, with engineering by Nick Declan and Hunter Allen. Mastering was handled by Heretic at Studio Four, in partnership with DKFM.
The sonic textures of the record are enriched by Jennifer Roberts, whose contributions on dulcimer (and dulcimer programming) add a haunting, ethereal quality to the band’s signature sound.
While the December release may challenge its visibility, the meticulous effort and heartfelt dedication infused into every track ensure It’s Stupid to Put Out an Album in December stands as a bold artistic statement. Fans and newcomers alike are invited to immerse themselves in what could be one of the year's most emotionally resonant releases—delivered just under the wire.
The album is now available on all major streaming platforms.
