Mint Field, a psychedelic band from Mexico City, consists of the singer/guitarist Estrella del Sol, bassist Sebastian Neyra, and receives drumming contributions from Callum Brown, who is also affiliated with the London band, Ulrika Spacek. They've announced the release of their upcoming album titled "Aprender a Ser."
Discussing their latest single, the group highlights the significance of the act of sighing. It's portrayed as an emotional release, an innate response that reflects our inner sentiments, even if we're not always conscious of it.
Rodrigo Pérez-Galicia, the director, emphasized the multifaceted nature of the sigh, viewing it as both a physical and emotional response. He sees it as a pause in our thoughts, bringing rhythm to our life experiences. The intent behind the visuals is to encapsulate the moment when one feels the need to sigh.
After their 2020 album "Sentimiento Mundial," which had a minimalist psych/shoegaze vibe, Mint Field began work on "Aprender a Ser" (translates to "Learn To Be"). This project was distinctive as the band was free from time pressures, enabling them to fully immerse themselves in the creation process. They worked in seclusion, resulting in a more personal touch to the album.
By January 2023, the group had crafted around twenty-five songs, but they meticulously curated these to a final list of ten tracks. This selection not only maintained the conceptual integrity of the album but also marked a progression in their musical style.
