The band, Pyrex, has released what they label as an EP even though it consists of eight songs that blend into the dreampop genre. The album begins with a song called "Same Things" that has Connor Toomey, a musician from Ballarat, as a collaborator. Another notable song on the record is "I Want Love", along with "Beautiful Creature". Arian Lane is the prominent force behind the music, contributing both the compelling lyrics and her potent vocal talents, all of which are backed by rich, psychedelic pop sounds.
Three songs from this EP were collaborated on with Richard Pleasance, known for his work on the TV series Wentworth and collaborations with several renowned artists. The other five tracks were worked on with Naomune Anzai, a reputable music figure based in Melbourne, known for his involvement with several bands and artists.
Regarding the creation of the music, Arian and another member named Jordan shared some insights. The songs were primarily crafted by Arian, with some written during the lockdown phase. The band's rehearsal sessions gave these songs a fresh, new perspective. Arian usually approaches the band with almost complete songs, but they experimented with a different method for "Just A Little", a song on the EP. This track started with a bassline composed by Jedd.
Having the chance to collaborate with two distinct producers, Pleasance and Anzai, was deemed valuable by the band. This strategy influenced the EP's final sound. Pyrex, having recently expanded to a quintet, hints that this EP is merely an introduction to more exciting projects in the future.
