Slowdive - everything is alive

The album, which is a tribute to Rachel Goswell's mother and Simon Scott's father who passed away in 2020, started its production journey in that year's autumn and progressed over the subsequent years. Neil Halstead, at first, had envisioned the album, Everything Is Alive, to be a "more minimal electronic record." However, as the band members collaborated on the songs, the initial idea underwent transformation. Halstead emphasized that the most impactful pieces were those that all the band members agreed upon, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the members and the blend of their ideas as the most rewarding parts of their efforts.

The band introduced the album to the audience with the lead single, "kisses." Halstead expressed that considering the current times, creating an excessively somber album didn't feel suitable. Consequently, the album offers a range of emotions but overall imparts a hopeful tone. Along with the single, a music video for "kisses," directed by Noel Paul, was also unveiled.
