Taking its name from a dense meteor shower, the album reveals the band's evolved approach to shoegaze textures, often presenting compositions that diverge from the prevailing heavier East Coast sounds in the genre. PNW heavy-rock figures Jessika Kenney and Lori Goldston play significant roles, drawing from their experience with bands like Nirvana, Sunn O))), and Wolves in the Throne Room. Vocalist Natasha El-Sergany remains the focal point, her voice oscillating between ambient-pop stylings akin to Lætitia Sadier and the darker tones reminiscent of Kris Esfandiari in her project Miserable. Crafted during the initial phases of pandemic-induced isolation, El-Sergany reflects on how the album captures the transition from old societal norms to a new world shaped by unforeseen circumstances, influenced by experiences such as starlit camping, political unrest, spiritual exploration, and evolving relationships.
