Ozean is a band that was formed in the early 1990s, with its roots tracing back to a chance encounter between Eric Shea and Mike Prosenko. Inspired by bands such as Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Xmal Deutschland, The Byrds, Lush, and Pale Saints, the duo sought to create their own unique sound within the shoegaze and dream pop genres.

They were soon joined by Lisa Baer, who brought her ethereal vocals to the mix, creating an atmospheric sound that captured the essence of their influences. With the addition of Mark Baldwin on bass, the band's lineup was complete.

The Ozean demo was recorded on a Fostex Model 80 1/4" 8-Track reel-to-reel tape recorder by Michael Padilla, and was initially released as a limited run of private press cassettes. However, the band disbanded before they could truly make their mark on the music scene.

In an unexpected turn of events, the 1992 recordings were rediscovered, leading to the reissue of the Ozean demo. This reissue allows a new generation of listeners to appreciate the band's unique sound and serves as a reminder of the untapped potential that Ozean possessed.

Despite not being a new album, Ozean's reissue has resonated with fans of shoegaze and dream pop, showcasing the band's talent and the timeless quality of their music. The reissue has introduced Ozean to a wider audience and helped preserve their legacy, even though the band itself was short-lived.
